Process Of Inventory

As a prolific poet and artist with thousands of works, it is important if you want to do something with them, such as making books/ wallpapers/etc to make digital copies of originals and keep them in an order where you can find and use them. My process is to tag each book or group with a code, and add that code with then a corresponding number for each work.

I have been through two large chunks of inventory input before long travels. The most recent was when I got into my storage unit with years of vintage works to capture. Usually once a book is complete the pix and tags are completed, but here was a big slog!

PROCESS OF INVENTORY:

Step 1. To create thousands of pieces of poetry and art. As an artist, and to do so also with your kid.

Step 2. To take photos of each creation. Two pix or more to make sure have it captured. (Before then traveling overseas for an unknown time, so can work on whilst abroad and create freEbooks/ wallpaper///)

Step 3. Store each book or group in a ziplock baggy with inventory code marked on each, e.g. Art A1. For different kinds of groups/ size of works I often use a different code eg Art B1.

Step 4. To title every piece into the inventory. With subsequent numbers for each piece, eg Art A1 1. And for multiple pix of the same piece adding a letter, eg Art1 1a. For poems with titles, add also the title after the inventory code, so can search and find by title eg Art A1 1 Perfectly Plausable

Step 5. Turn each photo as intended.

Step 6. Another important aspect is a document. With an index of each book/ group e.g. Art A1 and all others in running order.

Step 7. Below the index within the same document, expand upon each group with the image numbers eg Art A1 1. and all others in running order. This is especially important with poetry, with which also include the title of the piece.

INVENTORY COMPLETE:

THEN SELECT AND USE.

Step 8. Select favorite images, poems/ art to use, and copy into separate folder.

Step 9. Edit each image, crop, manipulate as desire to do justice to tone of piece.

Step 10. The process of selecting the order for pieces in a book, range or themes etc is another story. TBC.

Art unshared is like a good idea yet undone.

Here’s to the releases ahead^*
